Sentence Structure

A sentence  is a group of words  that explain a subject or idea. There are three types of sentences, simple, compound and complex. A simple sentence includes one verb and one main idea. A compound has two or more ideas and includes words that help us join two ideas together. The third sentence type, a complex sentence, has two ideas joint together. One idea is the main and the other idea backs up the information. If we were to use incorrect punctuation, It will change the meaning and it won’t make sense.

On Monday, and Tuesday this week, Room 5 learnt about Sentence Structure. We had fun interactive games and worked together in collaborative groups. We wrote a paragraph on what the different types of sentence structures there are.

Art with Mr Dodd.

Wednesday 4th of March 2015, Graham Dodd visited our school and gave us an art lesson. He taught us important lessons about the shading and lighting when colouring in a picture. I enjoyed this session because we learned a lot of essential tips about colouring in pictures. Every student was given the opportunity to colour in and draw. The picture was based on the modern and ancient New Zealand. I think we still need to work on not rushing our colouring. To make the objects look 3D, we colour in the objects that are in the distance pale, and the objects close up bright. We also learnt that an easy way to learn the colours in the rainbow is to remember ROYGBIV.

Maths Strategy

This is my Maths Strategy. I worked on this poster individually. This Maths Strategy makes answering large numbered addition easier to answer.

Beauty: Book Review

Beauty: Book Review

Beauty is an intriguing romance that retells the old tale of Beauty and the Beast, but with a twist. This has been my most favourite book I have read so far. The tale is so interesting, I had stayed up all night just to finish the book (And must I add, it was only the second night with Beauty). Out of 10, I would give this book a maximum rating due to the thrilling scenarios that surround the current page and the excitement that rushes through your blood as you see what the next page holds for you. I would recommend this to female students my age because I think they would be interested in this kind of fiction and it would be a great book to kickstart the many romantics  to come.
