My Recount on the Pakuranga Rotary Walk By Fine

Pakuranga Rotary Walk By Fine

On the hottest day of the week rooms 5,6,7,8, & 9 departed Panmure Bridge School at 9:00 am on Tuesday the 5th of November. It was very sunny and you could see everyone sweating. We lined up in our classrooms & the people who weren’t going had to stay with the classrooms in the junior block because the juniors had gone on Monday the day before us. Each classroom was called to get up and to start walking through the driveway following Ms Kirkpatrick and her classroom.

Everyone was exhausted! The line was very long so when we crossed the road we had to keep our eyes open. During the walk three people were given camera’s from Miss Paton, Caitlin Angel & Myself. Mrs Eeles also wanted to take some photos so she gave her camera to Samantha. We took about 50 pictures just on walking! When we finally made it to the Basin the photographers were taking a lot of pictures.

The view was amazing and you could see the nice clear water from every angle. Because the Basin was a fitness track most of the kids would try it out. It was very disappointing for most people when we got up to the monkey bars because they didn’t make it. We saw at least 6 ducks that were swimming all in a circle shape.

At lunch time everyone happily put down their bags and started eating. Most of the boys played soccer but the girls just sat down talking about gossip. Then a loud voice said “5 MINUTES! 5 MINUTES!” It was from Ms Kirkpatrick, she was telling us there was only 5 more minutes until we started walking again. We all lined up again in our classroom’s, then the camera’s were given to someone else to have a turn.

The new photographers were Lavinia, San Tat, Patrick, &            Oh S’mar. The new photographers took lots more photos. When we were crossing the Panmure Bridge Three hats flew off their heads.  We had finished walking the basin and started walking the Pakuranga Rotary Walkway.

This walkway was much more longer than the Basin. Everyone was tired and moaning about how their feet was in agony. At one point all the classes except for Room 6 stopped at a carpark. Mrs Anderson told us that we would have 10 minutes then have a rest because we were almost at the Pakuranga Rotary Sailing Club.

Every Room 5 student was paired up with a Room 8 buddy. I was buddied up with Eta, she was a very fast because when I slowed down she would speed up and sprint ahead of me.  Being with a buddy was fun because you wouldn’t be walking by yourself and you could talk to someone from time to time.

When we finally made it to the Pakuranga Rotary Sailing Club I threw my backpack off and lay down on the grass. It was raining so I had to go to shelter. Everyone was playing on the Snakes and Ladders Park. The park was much bigger than the board game.

There were actual ladders for us to climb up and slides to play the part as the snake. There were too big dice at the bottom where you had to start. It was fun because everyone was playing on it. Then most people took notice of the fitness equipment.

People were playing on it and it was quite fun actually. They were all blue but some were very complicated. People were queuing up just to have some fun on it so you had to be patient if you wanted a turn on the fitness equipment. Everyone played on it until the buses came.

Three buses had parked right in the parking lot waiting to be filled with children and some adults. Miss Paton thought we had a bus to ourselves but some of the Room 9 people couldn’t fit in their bus so they came with us. The bus ride was noisy and loud but fun at the same time, I almost fell asleep despite the noise. We got to school and everyone was exhausted!

I think that day was AWESOME! I hope we go again so I can experience more of the beautiful nature and the amazing animals.
